Killearn & Fintry
When staying at the cottages there are two very local places to visit. The villages of Killearn which is the nearest and Fintry a few miles east offer shops restaurants, pubs, post office and banks.

Killearn
This is a prosperous wee village with a collection of churches which provide some interest to visitors. There is also the Buchanan Monument erected to commemorate George Buchan who was born here at the beginning of the 16th century and who became the main tutor to James VI of Scotland. There is walking nearby in Killearn Glen which is pleasant area to walk. The woods are quite old and offer some lovely paths and woodland scenes. Also at the Pots of Gartness just down the road to the west of Killearn is a great place to visit when the Salmon are running up the river to their spawning grounds. Just west of the village there is also the famous West Highland Way which offers a convenient walk to the Village of Drymen.

Fintry
The village is quite small with only one shop, however it is a picturesque village a worth a visit and wander about. Sitting, like Killearn, at the foot of the Campsie hills there are many places around where you can walk. The local Castle, Culcreugh Castle is now a hotel and restaurant. It claims to have a number of Ghosts and does have a huge colony of bats. The village has in recent years twice won the coveted "Best Kept in Scotland".
